While no formal online code was located regarding an ice barrier, Jim Marmol of K2 Engineering on behalf of Perry Township (Greene County), PA confirmed it is required with the following comment, "There are some conditions regarding the installation and roof slope, but in general, our area experiences ice forming at the eaves and ice guard should be installed.  The valleys should have it installed also." (Per email dated 9/8/20.)
